Cleanings/Gum Health

Cleanings/Gum Health

Many folks call our office saying, "I need to get my teeth cleaned." They know how important it is to have your teeth professionally checked and cleaned and how common, yet preventable, gum disease is. Healthy gums (and the bone and ligaments below that support the teeth) are the foundation for a long-lasting smile! Consistent home care, healthy habits and thorough, periodic cleanings at our office is essential if you wish to keep your teeth for a lifetime.

Not all cleanings are the same. While many of our patients qualify for basic oral health maintenance, many others need more in-depth, more frequent treatment. "Scale and Root Plane (Deep Cleaning)" and "Periodontal Maintenance Therapy (PMT)" are required in cases of excessive plaque and tartar accumulation, bone loss, root exposure, deep pocket depth, bleeding and swelling. At your first and each subsequent examination visit we will carefully assess your gum--and teeth--health and inform you of your current state of oral health.

We want to partner with you in your pursuit of dental health and happiness. If you have any questions about your current hygiene protocol please ask us. Or, to make an appointment to see one of our skilled hygienists, please call us at (573) 446-2687. We're always happy to hear from you!
